Assurance through Clinical Analysis

WebFIRE! Is a proprietary packaged service offering from the iConsortium encompassing each facet of system performance including load testing, analyzing, and tuning, along with the tools required to deliver each.
The iConsortium technical leadership reviewed dozens of tools on the market that were suitable to be included with our experts’analysis and delivery.

What will you get with the WebFIRE! Offering?

The iConsortium strategic service specialists will design, oversee, and execute a rapid, proven testing model that both streamlines the effort as well as defining black and white results.

We do not just tell you if there is a problem, we help you to FIX that problem.

Once the test procedures are complete, the tuning plans will be clearly defined and follow-up results will be measured. If a hardware change is required, we will help you to size the ideal equipment to get the best performance increase for the money.

Whether you are operating on a Windows platform, iSeries, or a *NIX environment, our expertise will identify bottlenecks to performance, even at the database level if needed.

If your organization has a global user footprint, our service model has an optional capability of deploying tests to each of the regions in conjunction with the main load test which will identify site specific issues such as bandwidth or routing issues.

In short, we have designed an end to end offering that is unmatched in the industry for all web based JD Edwards customers around the world.

Understanding JD Edwards Performance

Too often customers that run JD Edwards will not have the intrinsic knowledge of the core application systems as well as how they interact with the hardware and operating systems.

Our understanding of system performance surpasses most all systems integrators in the market today. This comes from thousands of hours or lab analysis, customer experience, and collaboration with the software designers and hardware vendors.

What we try to impart to each and every customer is the salient features of system interrelationship, reaching to the depths of the code itself:

“How does interpreted computing compare to binary computing on the various application and OS kernels?”

“How should the system be tuned to make best use of memory pool allocation, arms over disk ratios, or SAN caches?”

“What is the most effective enhancement to performance that gives us the biggest gains for the dollars spent?”

The iConsortium brings more to your organization than load testing tools and script writers. We bring expertise in every facet of the applications and systems to give you the complete picture of what is happening and what will happen to your enterprise environment.

Memory leaks, zombie processes, interactive and batch load balancing, distributed processing.

Let our specialists bring you the confidence that you can move forward with a stable, robust enterprise system!

Our Methodology

The iConsortium uses a phased model to deliver services, including both offsite and onsite delivery.

This methodology includes the following steps:

HIGH WATER MARK TEST
This test is a crucial first step in any load test. This is an arbitrary overload of the system through a low variation/high volume scenario. These standard scripts will determine the ability of your hardware, applications, and database to effectively flex and bend with the load. It will also highlight any glaring problems with hardware sizing so that these adjustments can be made prior to the more involved follow-up tests.
As an anecdote, our initial HWM test at a client not only highlighted poor sizing, but also resulted in the reporting of core flaws in the JD Edwards foundation code, resulting in Oracle Knowledge Garden critical alerts and engineering fixes. The application did not flex, it simply fell over.

Poor performance is acceptable at this stage, a crashing system is not.

USAGE ANALYSIS
Through multiple meetings, we will define the intended user load on the system and translate those requirements into categories of system load types. The programs that are run carry similar loads in many cases. This is how we are able to reduce the complexity of the testing by clinically calculating the true binary system load for interactive and batch processes. Gone are the days of scripting 40 - 50 different procedures trying to simulate every role and user type in your company.

SCRIPT AND TEST PLAN DESIGN
Once isolated, our teams will follow your internal test scripts to replicate the user load accurately. These scripts are yours to keep should you choose to purchase an internal copy of RadView, or are archived on the iPORTAL should you need a future follow-up test. This drastically reduces the cost of follow-up tests in the future.

1ST PASS EXECUTION
This phase delivers the initial iterative approach to highlight performance issues.

TUNING
Our technical experts will review the results and make the appropriate system enhancements to deliver the needed improvements.

2ND PASS EXECUTION
This second run of tests will validate the improvements compared to the 1st Pass Execution.

FINAL ANALYSIS AND RESULTS
Our teams will deliver comprehensive findings from the test, reviewing them with IT leaders, and offer future considerations for your company.

Once our job is complete, you should be left with the confidence that your systems have met the rigors of WebFIRE!

Our Commitment

The commitment from the iConsortium to your company is simple. We will provide complete analysis of your system capabilities and the most educated recommendation possible. We will deliver a timely solution with as much knowledge transfer to your internal staff as possible.

We don’t want to come in and fix your problems without you understanding what we did and why. It will be your job to take care of your system performance in the future, and we want to equip you for that task as much as possible. We do need something from you

though. The expertise required for this type of service is limited, even in our vast organization. If your company is interested in our WebFIRE! Services, please contact us for scheduling at least 30 days in advance.

Thank you for your interest!

Additional Service Options
REMOTE SITE TEST DEPLOYMENTS
Should you require a global throughput analysis, our service teams can deploy a secondary load technology to your remote sites to measure throughput performance that might not otherwise have been caught by a single site load test.
DATABASE TUNING
Should you require additional expertise to tune your database for full optimization of your ERP system, our database outsourcing department can become involved in your testing efforts to provide the necessary database tuning services.
RE-PLATFORM ANALYSIS
If you are facing a major investment in new hardware to scale your systems to accommodate the new growth and technology, the iConsortium specializes in re-platform analysis. We will be able to clearly define your best hardware for the future.

Service Pricing
The standard WebFIRE! Service Model outlined in this document and project plan is currently offered for 2009 at a fixed fee of $35,000.00 USD.

We ensure proper delivery by coordinating with our clients and customizing the delivery specific to each customer, resulting in slight increases or decreases to this standard cost.

Additional Service Options are quoted individually upon determination of scope and scale of services.

If you would like to speak to our sales and delivery personnel, we will help you determine your specific requirements and a final quote for services.

WebFIRE! pricing is offered at a discount as part of a larger packaged service plan such as upgrades, implementations, and re-platform projects.
